On May 8, 2018, The Pittsburgh Post-gazette (Kris B. Mamula) reported that Rivertowne filed for protection from creditors under Chapter 11 of the US Bankruptcy Code. Fybomax Inc. is doing business as Rivertowne.

Rivertowne Brewster

Megan Seastedt – Rivertowne Brewster
First Brewster in Allegheny County
In December 2012 a historic event took place at Rivertowne Brewing in Monroeville: Megan Seastedt started work. What made this significant was that she became the first professional Brewster in Allegheny County. A Brewster is the name that identifies a female brewer whereas brewer is commonly known to be a male. Megan began her career at Southern Tier Brewing in Jamestown, NY and in addition studied Fermentation Science and Food Service at Oregon State University, Covallis in 2011. The word Brewster has origins in early European history and is not strongly used in contemporary life.

Megan leaves Rivertowne for Rock Bottom in Homestead in June 2014. She will take Steve Ilnicki’s spot as he leaves for Spoonwood Brewing in Bethel Park.

First Married Brewing Couple in Allegheny County
(Jumping the gun with this November 11, 2013 posting)
In September 2014, Megan and James Evans are to be married. James is working as a brewer at the Rock Bottom Brewery in Homestead, Pa. This will place them as the first married brewers concurrently working in Allegheny County. In documenting the brewing history of our region I think it is important to note this.
